About Statt

Statt is changing the way public policy, public affairs, and regulatory professionals do their jobs, unlocking mission-critical insights for regulated companies, professional services firms, government agencies, and policy organizations.

Staying ahead of policy, regulatory, and geopolitical change — and separating signal from noise — has never been harder. For decades, the tools available to policy professionals were built around search, tracking, and alerts, while the actual work product — the memos, briefs, side-by-sides, stakeholder maps, and talking points — remained stubbornly manual. Statt was built to change that: the first AI-native platform purpose-built for in-depth, real-time policy and regulatory research, insight, and work-product generation.

We’re growing fast, backed by several top venture capital investors. Policy, communications, and public affairs teams at leading Fortune 500 companies, global consultancies, technology firms, and advocacy organizations rely on Statt for their work, backed by our proprietary datastream, which collects and analyzes hundreds of millions of data points from tens of thousands of sources.

About the Role

We are hiring our inaugural Head of Product — the first dedicated product leader in the company’s history and a member of Statt’s executive leadership team.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with our Head of Engineering and other key leaders across sales, marketing, customer success, and operations, you will help to define the product vision, own the roadmap, and shape how the next generation of AI-powered policy and regulatory intelligence gets built.

This is a rare opening: a market long dominated by pre-LLM incumbents is being remade by AI, and the team that gets the product right will define how an entire industry works for the next decade. You will sit at the center of that opportunity — leading decisions on what we build, in what order, and why. You will own the conversation about where the platform is headed, both inside the company and externally with customers, prospects, investors, and partners.

The ideal candidate is a builder and an owner: a strategic product executive who deeply understands the policy, regulatory, and government affairs landscape — including the technology alternatives professionals in this space use today — and who thrives on translating that fluency into a product customers can’t imagine working without.

What You’ll Tackle in Your First Year

  • Set the product vision and 6-12 month roadmap, and align the executive team, engineering, and go-to-market around it.
  • Decide how Statt’s AI capabilities — across Intelligence, Discovery, Briefer, and Workspace — evolve and stay differentiated as frontier models continue to commoditize generic research.
  • Sequence our expansion across the personas we serve — government relations and lobbying, regulatory affairs and law, and public affairs and strategic communications — and sharpen our positioning against the govtech, policytech, and regtech competitive set.
  • Stand up the product discovery, prioritization, and planning rhythms that will carry the company through its next phase of growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own product vision, strategy, and roadmap. Define where the platform is going and why, and make the prioritization calls that align product investment with customer needs, market opportunity, and company objectives.
  • Own competitive and market intelligence. Develop and maintain a deep, current understanding of the govtech, policytech, and regtech landscape — legacy legislative tracking and regulatory monitoring platforms, AI-native entrants, and horizontal AI tools — and position Statt to win against each.
  • Be the voice of the customer’s workflow. Spend real time with policy, government relations, regulatory, and public affairs professionals; translate their workflows, feedback, and unmet needs into product requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Partner with engineering. Work hand-in-glove with the Head of Engineering to ensure effective prioritization, execution, and delivery — balancing speed, quality, and ambition.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment. Keep product, engineering, sales, customer success, and leadership operating from a shared roadmap, and communicate vision, priorities, and progress clearly to technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Evangelize the product. Represent the product vision externally with customers, prospects, partners, and the broader policy community — and internally as the standard-bearer for product excellence.
  • Build the product function. Establish processes for gathering and prioritizing customer and market feedback, institute modern product management practices and operating rhythms, and hire and develop the product team as the company scales.

Key Qualifications

  • Significant experience in product leadership (Head of Product, VP Product, Group/Principal PM, or equivalent) at a B2B SaaS or AI company — ideally including 0→1 product building or early-stage scaling.
  • Deep understanding of the public policy, regulatory, government affairs, or compliance ecosystem and the workflows of the professionals who operate within it.
  • Strong familiarity with the technology alternatives those professionals use today — legislative and regulatory tracking, policy intelligence, stakeholder management, advocacy, and compliance monitoring tools — and well-formed opinions about where they fall short.
  • Experience building or scaling AI-powered software products, with a working grasp of what modern LLM-based systems can and cannot do.
  • Proven ability to translate customer requirements, market signals, and business objectives into successful product strategy and a roadmap that ships.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder-management skills, with credibility in front of engineers, executives, and customers alike.
  • Experience working directly with customers and go-to-market teams to identify, validate, and prioritize product opportunities.

Preferred Experience

  • Background working in high-growth startups or venture-backed technology companies, ideally as an early or founding product leader.
  • Direct experience in policy intelligence, regulatory technology, government affairs technology, legal technology, or adjacent knowledge-work platforms.
  • Prior career experience in government, government relations, public affairs, a law or lobbying firm, or a regulatory function — you’ve lived the customer’s job.
  • Technical or engineering background, or significant experience working closely with engineering organizations.
  • Familiarity with modern product management, analytics, and customer feedback tooling.

Why Statt?

  • Founding-level ownership. Define the product vision and roadmap as the company’s first product executive, with a seat on the executive leadership team and a direct line to the CEO.
  • A market being remade by AI. Help decide how an entire profession — policy, government relations, regulatory, and public affairs — works in the AI era, in a category where the incumbents were built for a pre-LLM world.
  • Real traction. Build on a platform already trusted by marquee enterprises, top professional services and public affairs firms, and government institutions.
  • Competitive executive compensation and meaningful equity. Base salary range of [$150,000-$170,000].
  • Platinum, employer-subsidized health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Unlimited Paid Time Off.
  • Hybrid work environment and flexible schedule, with three days per week in either our vibrant Downtown D.C. or East Austin offices.
