Job Description: VP, Product – Pricing Science Enablement

Function: Product Strategy, Pricing Science Enablement, Organizational Capability Building
Overview
Engage3 is transforming how retailers operationalize pricing science across base pricing, promotions, markdowns, and price image management. As VP, Product – Pricing Science Enablement, you will be a critical force in connecting Product, Engineering, Customer Success, Delivery, and a growing ecosystem of consultants and partners to ensure we align our near-term priorities to our strategic goals. Your mission is to ensure Engage3’s Pricing Science portfolio is understood, adopted, and executed consistently—internally and externally.
This role blends deep pricing and merchandising expertise with product strategy, curriculum development, and capability building. You will guide the roadmap of Engage3’s Pricing Science portfolio while institutionalizing the knowledge, training, and frameworks needed for customers, partners, and Engage3 teams to implement pricing science with excellence.
Core Responsibilities
- Product Strategy & Portfolio Leadership
- Serve as the senior domain authority shaping the evolution of Engage3’s Pricing Science portfolio across base price, promo, markdown, and price image.
- Translate real retail pricing behaviors, constraints, decision-making processes, and economic considerations into actionable product requirements.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Data Science teams to prioritize roadmap initiatives.
- Collaborate with other Product team members on product documentation, scenarios, and use cases that bridge domain expertise with product functionality.
- Ensure product design and user workflows reflect authentic retail pricing realities.
- Customer Interaction & Applied Pricing Science (30–40% external early, decreasing over time)
- Engage senior retail stakeholders to ensure they understand how to adopt Engage3’s pricing capabilities.
- Lead strategic onboarding sessions to understand customers’ operating models to best configure the Price Image portfolio for their needs
- Partner with Customer Success’ Implementation team to improve implementation quality and accelerate value realization.
- Transition responsibilities to internal teams and certified consultants as organizational capability increases.
- Institutionalizing Pricing Science Knowledge (Internal + External)
- a)Internal Organizational Knowledge-Building
- Develop and operationalize Engage3’s internal academy for retail economics, pricing science, price image, promotions, and markdown.
- Create structured training programs to upskill Product, CS, Delivery, Sales, Support, and Engineering.
- Build reusable frameworks, curricula, modules, workshops, and documentation.
- Ensure new product capabilities are effectively communicated with clear “why, how, and when” guidance.
- b)External Client & Consultant Education
- Design and launch Engage3’s consultant and partner enablement framework.
- Build training paths preparing external consultants for real-world pricing scenarios using Engage3 products.
- Create assessments and materials to validate consultant competency.
- Equip customers with resources and frameworks for long-term success.
- Cross-Functional Leadership & Coordination
- Serve as the primary synthesis point between customer needs and product strategy.
- Standardize implementation approaches across CS and Delivery.
- Equip Sales with product clarity and pricing rationale.
- Partner with Engineering and Data Science to validate product behaviors and real-world use cases.
- Strategic Influence (Thought Leadership De-Emphasized)
- Support occasional client forums or discussions tied to major customers or roadmap priorities.
Qualifications
Required
- 12–15+ years in retail pricing, merchandising, category management, revenue management, or pricing strategy consulting.
- Deep knowledge across pricing disciplines.
- Strong product fluency and experience influencing roadmap decisions.
- Proven ability to design training, frameworks, curricula, or enablement programs.
- Executive presence with strong communication capability.
- Experience leading cross-functional initiatives at VP scope.
Preferred
- - Experience developing capability-building or certification programs.
- - Familiarity with price optimization platforms and AI/LLM tools.
- - Comfort with light analysis (SQL or dashboards).
- - Exposure to Agile/Scrum practices.
