About Downstream

Downstream Systems, Inc. is a marketplace platform modernizing the waste, construction, and site services industries. We help contractors, builders, and businesses quickly book critical services like dumpster rentals, hauling, and site clean-up through a simple, transparent digital experience.

As we grow, we’re building the financial infrastructure, reporting, and processes needed to scale a fast-moving, transaction-heavy business. We’re looking for an Accounting Manager to join our team and play a key role in month-end close, financial reporting, tax compliance support, and process improvement.

Role Overview

Downstream is seeking an Accounting Manager to support day-to-day accounting operations and help ensure accurate, timely, GAAP-aligned financial reporting as we scale.

This is a hands-on role with meaningful ownership and visibility across the business. It is an ideal opportunity for a Senior Accountant ready to step into broader responsibility or an early Accounting Manager looking to deepen experience in a high-growth environment.

You will work closely with finance leadership to support the close process, reporting, reconciliations, sales tax compliance, and accounting process improvements across a multi-state marketplace business.

Reporting line: This role reports to the COO.

  • Help manage core AP and AR workflows, reconciliations, and aging visibility
  • Assist with accounting for supplier payouts, accrual timing, and transaction flows
  • Support accurate accounting treatment for revenue, costs, and other marketplace activity

Systems, Process & Scale

  • Help strengthen accounting policies, process documentation, and internal controls
  • Identify opportunities for automation and workflow improvements
  • Support accounting system maintenance and enhancements, including Xero and related tools
  • Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Sales, and Product teams to improve financial processes

Audit & Compliance Support

  • Prepare audit support schedules and reconciliations
  • Assist with external audit requests, tax support, and other compliance-related reporting
  • Help ensure accounting records are organized, complete, and scalable
